ORIENTATION WEEK BOOTH
Come see our booth at ASU's Orientation Week, this is where we will promote membership for incoming design students. We'll have loads of information and all questions about who we are can be answered. Plus at this event, our IIDA ASU Campus Center t-shirts and notebooks are available to start the new year off right.

WELCOME BACK SOCIAL
Come to our Welcome Back Social to catch up with the students you have missed all summer long, welcome the newbies too and as always....lots of food!!

SOUTHWEST CHAPTER EVENTS
These events are chapter wide events to see members outside of the ASU campus. Bigger groups of people means more fun, more food, and lots of opportunity for networking!

TRADE FAIR
The Trade Fair is the first main event for the fall, where companies from around Phoenix get to show off there works and products. The IIDA students get the opportunity to help set up this event and have there first chance of the year to meet IIDA members beyond campus.

STUDENT ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION
At the round table discussion the students get the opportunity to ask professionals questions about their careers and find out what design is all about.

.P.R.I.D.E AWARDS
This event is where designers can enter their works for special awards from the chapter. Students enter too and get their works displayed before professionals, lots of opportunity to show off in front of professionals!

SOCIALS
These events are great for just socializing and networking with the professionals, lots of fun and always lots of food!

SOCIALS WITH OTHER CAMPUS CENTERS
Sometimes the campus groups all get together to socialize. Students from the community college and other local design schools come together to talk about there classes and to just have fun getting to know others in the same situation.

CHAIRITY EVENT
The 4th years of ASU interior design have their chair projects they get to show off at this event. It's exciting to see what our seniors come up with and awards are given out for their work.

DESIGN LECTURES
A few lectures are held where students can come listen to professionals speak about design. These are great opportunities to hear more beyond the classroom and get some of your questions answered about the real world of design.

PARENT'S WEEK EVENT

  • IIDA BOOTH - SELL T-SHIRTS + NOTEBOOKS This is something new IIDA will be doing to start the year off right. We are going to set up a booth to advertise ourselves to the new students coming into design, this will let them ask questions without the intimidation from the other members being present. Great way to boost our membership.

    GENERAL MEETINGS
    These meetings are for all members. We mostly speak about coming events and dates to remember, but we also host guest speakers, and other things at the meetings. We try to have food at every meeting, who wouldn't like that??

    SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKERS
    Some of the guest speakers come just for us, sometimes they're professors we currently have who teach us beyond the classroom in a more casual setting, and then others are professionals from around the IIDA social network that we always like to learn more about their day as a designer.

    END OF THE SEMESTER SOCIALS
    Party!! That's what we do at the end of each semester to celebrate getting another semester done, while at the same time escaping the stresses of finals. Lots of fun, lots of food!

    MENTOR-MENTEE SOCIAL
    This event is especially for mentors to meet their mentees. It's great to have a mentor when you first start out in design. Having someone you can look up to and rely on for solutions to your design problems is always a plus and only makes it easier for you.

    PORTFOLIO WORKSHOP
    This is one of the coolest events we hold all year long. Come to these and see other students portfolios, while learning to build you're own. We also bring in professionals to speak about what they would like to see in your portfolio and you can have one on one sessions with them to teach you how to make the best presentation with your portfolio.

    STUDENT SHOWS
    Something we want to start again is a student show, this will simply be an event for the members to show off their work. A great opportunity to show off in front of classmates and more importantly professionals.

    PHILANTHROPY DAY/EVENTS
    Philanthropy is all about the charity. As a professional organization, it's always great to give to the community, so there is usually at least one group of people who need our help, that we give our focus to.

    FIRM TOURS
    These are fun events we go do to visit design firms and the people who work there. We get to learn a lot about what they do at their job, while exploring their work place.

    BOARD RETREATS
    Board retreats are just for the board members of ASU's IIDA. Becoming a board member only gets you more involved and presents great opportunity to start working with others to set goals and work hard for our organization. Our retreats are fun meetings we have to look at our goals and plan our events for the coming semester. It is where the behind the scene action happens for IIDA.
